Together with Virginia, a friend from work, we decided one sunny weekend to rent bikes and ride across the Golden Gate Bridge to Tiburon in Marin County.  The route took us past the Marina and Crissy Field, up and over the bridge, past Sausalito, and then along the bay around to Tiburon.  We had a light lunch there and then caught the ferry back to our start point at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Here are a few photos I’ve snapped from my desk at work looking north towards Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower (and my apartment):

Here are some photos from a fantastic weekend hike near Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park.  I went with Genia, a colleague from work, her husband and her brother.  As you can see we had perfect weather!

With my apartment hunting out of the way a lot sooner than I planned, I was able to get up to Victoria to visit my friend Caroline, who I’ve known since the early days in Switzerland when she was over there as an au pair.  Together we drove north all the way up and over the island to Tofino.

During one of my early weeks traveling to Austin for work, rather than flying back to SF over the weekend I flew up to Vancouver instead.  I met up with Caroline there and we started a mini road trip through the Rockies.  The first day we drove to Hope, a tiny town surrounded by the mountains whose claim to fame is (was?) that Rambo was filmed there.  The next day we drove further east to Okanagan Valley, a warm, dry microclimate that is Canada’s wine region (who ever knew?!).  We had a great couple of nights there tasting wines and eating good food.
