Baden Revisited
After I finished the academic year at Berkeley, and before I started work in Germany for the summer, I got back to Switzerland to visit some friends and get back into the Alps for a hike or two.
While there I stayed in Baden, the town where I lived for the five years I was in Switzerland. When I left Switzerland, my good mate Andy Passmore from work took over my apartment, and he was gracious enough to let me with him while I was in town. I have to admit it was a bit of a trip to be staying in my old apartment – with much of my old furniture – as a guest!

"Zum Igel" ("The Hedgehog") at Obere Gasse 23 – my old apartment was on the 4th floor.

Obere Gasse. The castle ruins above the town.
View from the Schlossruine – looking west towards the Bahnhof, ALSTOM and ABB buildings, and the vineyards on the far side of the river in Ennetbaden.

View from Schlossruine – looking east over the Altstadt towards Zurich.

The Baden Altstadt above the Limmat river. Still looking good, even after a year away…
